DownloadDay 1 Aigues Mortes and la Grande Motte
Morning: Meet your guide in la Grande Motte station. Guided tour of this resort built in the 1960s. Today its atypical architecture makes its reputation and is labelled "heritage of the 20th century" in 2010.
During the tour, discover this modern pyramidal architecture such as the Fiji building, the Temple of the Sun and the great pyramid, inspired by the South American pyramids.
Lunch: Lunch can be organized in la Grande Motte on the port or on the beach, or if you prefer, within the walled city of Aigues-Mortes. (3 courses, 1/4 wine and coffee)
Afternoon tour: Drive to the Camargue Salins to Aigues-Mortes.
A tour on a tourist train will allow you to discover the harvest of the so-called “white gold” which was one of the main wealth of the Camargue.
Then stroll in the streets of Aigues-Mortes, port of King St Louis, controlled by the imposing Constance’s Tower. Discover the history of crusade departures in the Middle-Ages and later of the tragic Huguenots who were imprisoned in the towers. During a brief time, discover the shops and flavors of the walled city.
Our advice: This day is ideal from June to August, the period during which the colors are the most beautiful. Above all, do not forget your camera!
