Capestang is a charming village located between a large dried pond and the Canal du Midi.
The village used to be the summer residence of Narbonne’s archbishop and from that past, remain treasures.
The palace is still famous for preserving magnificent medieval painted ceilings of the 14th century.

Day 1 A medieval day in Capestang

In the morning meet your local guide in Capestang, big wine village on the banks of the Canal du Midi.
In the old Bishops of Narbonne’ Castle you will discover painted ceilings of the 15th century, decorated with all kinds of scenes: animals, religious or gallant scenes.
The discovery of Capestang will continue with a stroll in the city to discover the Gothic Collegiate Church St Etienne and wine houses of the 19th century.
The tour will be in 2 groups according to the number of participants. 

Lunch : in Capestang. Example of menu:
Timbale of warm crab with homardine sauce
Duck with olives, potatoes and Provencal tomato 
Iced nougat

In the afternoon, departure to the Fontcaude Abbey, Abbey of the Prémontré order at the heart of the Languedoc, built near a sacred source and important stop on the way to Saint James of Compostella. 
Then visit and tasting at the local oil mill. 

Our Tip: after lunch, hike from Capestang to the Fontcaude Abbey following the way of St James of Compostela (easy, 11kms, about 2 hours), then visit the Abbey. (No tasting of olive after this hike).
