In the morning, meet your guide and drive in bus toward the fortress of Queribus. Along the road, your guide would tell you the history of the Crusade against the Albigensians or so-called “Cathars”.
Then, climb till the gate of Queribus Castle, the first fortress of the day. Built at 752 meters on the top of a hill, the fortress overlooks Cucugnan village and a part of the Roussillon plain.
Walk up on the top of the keep and admire the point on view on the coast, the Pyrenees and the Corbieres Region.
Lunch: Lunch in Cucugnan village.
In the afternoon, enjoy a stroll in Cucugnan village and let you charm by the small medieval streets and covered passages. Follow your guide to the church to see an unusual statue of the Holy Virgin Mary, represented pregnant…
A wind mill has been restored some years ago and is now producing flour that is used to bake a certified organic bread. Nearby, follow your guide to admire the ruins and few remains of the former castle and village location.
Then, drive to the Peyrepertuse castle. At the bottom of the fortress let your guide tell you its history and explain its architecture.
