Day 1 Montpellier

A guided tour allows you to discover the history and architecture of the “Ecusson”, the old medieval city center: its narrow streets, the private mansions and their courtyards, the royal square of Peyrou, gardens and the lively Comedie square. 

This tour can be organized around some peculiar themes:
  • Montpellier in the Middle Ages,
  • the classical period: squares and private mansions,
  • Medicine and the University, which has made of Montpellier an important town of knowledge in the past,
  • Religious history and pilgrimages… 
But Montpellier also offers other important centers of interest out of the traditional tour:
  • modern architecture of new districts and especially the Antigone district, designed by Ricardo Bofill and Port Marianne.
  • the Fabre museum and the painters of Montpellier (Bourdon, Cabanel, Fabre, Bazille...).
  • the botanical garden, first one created in France.
